Affiliate Disclosure
Bug Proof Guide is a free educational resource about household pest identification and DIY pest control. To support our work, we participate in affiliate programs, most notably the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program.
Amazon Associates
Bug Proof Guide is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. When you click a product link on this site and buy something on Amazon (or any affiliated store), we may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.
How affiliate links work
Every product link on Bug Proof Guide that goes to a retailer is an affiliate link. This includes:
- Product recommendations in our Buyer’s Guide articles (e.g., “Best Drain Fly Killer Products”)
- Inline product mentions throughout guide articles (e.g., enzyme cleaners, traps, sprays)
- Image-based product callouts that link to retailer pages
The price you pay is identical whether you use our link or go directly to the retailer. The commission comes out of the retailer’s own marketing budget, not from your purchase price.
Our editorial promise
Affiliate relationships never affect our recommendations. Every product we recommend is chosen based on:
- Independent research — we test or evaluate documented user reports for every product
- Relevance to the specific pest problem the article addresses
- Quality, value, and safety — not commission rate
We do not accept payment for positive reviews. We do not promote products we have not personally researched. If we have not found a credible, safe, effective option in a category, we say so and recommend against buying anything.
Other affiliate programs
In addition to Amazon, Bug Proof Guide may participate in other affiliate programs from time to time (e.g., home improvement retailers, pest control product manufacturers). Any future affiliate relationships will be disclosed in this policy.
FTC compliance
This disclosure is made in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR Part 255 (“Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising”). The FTC requires that material connections between advertisers and endorsers be disclosed clearly and conspicuously.
Each individual article that contains affiliate links also displays a short disclosure notice at the top, so you know which pages may earn us a commission before you read.
